Girls Soccer Day 2016

Proclamation by Dr. Edward Trimis, Principal, Verdugo Hills High School Designating March 10, 2016 as Verdugo Hills Girls Soccer Day

Whereas athletics are a critical part of high schools in general and Verdugo Hills High School in particular in that athletics is one of our school’s key focus areas along with academics, arts, and building community;

Whereas this particular season several players played pivotal roles in the success of the team and should be especially recognized including Captains Danielle Gelsinger and Kelsey Sanford, Tailva Cooper, Karla Martinez, and Odessa Lucero.

Whereas the records for this team that progressed to the City Championship for the 5th consecutive year, coached by Matt Nicchitta and Assistant Coaches Mark Woodhouse and Tony Kasch, was remarkable. They were 7-4-1 in league and 15-9-2 overall.

Whereas this particular team in play-offs defeated Jefferson, Maywood, LACES, and Sotomayor to win the Division 3 Championship (2nd straight Division 3 Championship, 3rd Straight Overall Championship) AND were seeded 5th in Southern California and traveled to Oxnard, California to play 4nd Seeded Oxnard High School in the quarter-finals of the CIF Southern California State Div. 3 Girls Soccer Championship. The team finished in top ten teams in the Southern California State CIF Finals.

Whereas Verdugo Hills High School Girls Soccer continues to be a source of school pride, motivating all students to be successful in school and teachers and staff to continue to do their best to support Verdugo Hills students;

Now, therefore, I, EDWARD TRIMIS, Principal of Verdugo Hills High School, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the State of California and the Los Angeles Unified School District, do hereby proclaim March 10, 2016 as Verdugo Hills Girls Soccer Day and call upon all Verdugo Hills High School staff, students, and community to observe this day by honoring our Girls Soccer Team and their coaches with the recognition and accolades they so rightly deserve throughout the day and for the rest of the school year.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this 10th day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.

EDWARD TRIMIS
