General Chemistry Course Description:
This Chemistry course is a general chemistry class taken in two consecutive terms.  Students are required to apply knowledge attained with questions that challenge there understanding of the content with reasoning and application skills. This course is constructed using the NGSS standards.  Chemistry is a yearlong course that meets five days a week for 88 minutes each day except for 16 Tuesdays, which is 77 minutes. Most of the labs are 1 ½ periods long.

Investigative labs are an integral part of understanding how to study, test, and discover the world of science.  In this Chemistry course a Lab section should  be designated in your notebook. The seven science practices are implemented in all labs as well as real world applications. General Chemistry is open to all students that have completed a year of algebra and are ready to challenge themselves in the wonders of science.


Advanced Placement Course Description:
This AP Chemistry course is designed to be equivalent to a general chemistry class taken in the first semester of college. Students are required to apply knowledge attained with questions that challenge there understanding of the content with reasoning and application skills. This course is structured around the six big ideas constructed by the AP curriculum framework.AP Chemistry is a yearlong course that meets five days a week for 88 minutes each day except for 16 Tuesdays, which is 77 minutes. Most of the labs are two periods long.

Investigative labs are an integral part of understanding how to study, test, and discover the world of science. In this AP Chemistry course a lab notebook is required, just as it is in college. This course is 25% hands-on laboratory with a minimum of six inquiry-based labs out of 16 overall.The seven science practices are implemented in all labs as well as real world applications. AP Chemistry is open to all students that have completed a year, which is two terms of chemistry, and are ready to challenge themselves in the wonders of advanced science practices.
