Students, there are many scholarship opportunities. You don't need to wait until your senior year to begin exploring. There are two types of scholarships; school based scholarships and scholarships from independent groups and corporations.
School based scholarships are provided by colleges and universities and are given to students through the college appliaction process. These scholarships can be for athletics and/or based on educational merit. Schools will offer you a scholarship to encourage you to attend their institution. Research the scholarship opportunities for the colleges you would like to attend and apply for everything! Keep track of scholarship application deadlines when you apply for college, many colleges ask that you apply early to be considered.
Websites are the most effective way to access independent scholarships to help you pay for your post secondary education. If the website asks you to pay, it is not legimiate! All scholarship websites should connect you to scholarship information for free.
The college center also has a binder full of scholarship offers; come by and browse. The college center is located in room 141, we are open each day during school, lunch and p.4. We are closed only Fridays at lunch. See you soon.
