Join us for an informative and inspiring workshop on sucstance us awareness at Verdugo hills high school in the parent center on January 22, 2025 in the Parent Center
We invite you to join us from December 16 to 18, 2024 for our Winter Academy. The Winter Academy empowers students with academic support and enrichment to amplify their performance with three extra days in the classroom. All participating students will receive healthy meals and fun enrichment activities designed to encourage exploration and engagement. Some teachers will also be offering opportunities for students to increase their final grades. (Contracts will be issued by the participating teachers.)

Please enroll your child by Friday, November 22, 2024 to be eligible for transportation services. Paper applications are attached to this message and available in the attendance office. (You can return paper applications to the Attendance Office.)

All 9th grade students are welcome to join us for a three-day Summer Bridge event designed to help transition students from middle school to high school.
If you are interested in transportation for the 24-25 school year, you now have to “opt-in” through your Parent Portal Account. Please visit lausd.org/schoolbus for step-by-step instructions.
It is important to “opt-in” before May 3rd. Transportation will create routes based on the requests submitted by this date. This process is new and transportation from the prior school year will not be automatically renewed.
Good news, the eligibility distance has been reduced for both elementary and secondary students. The new eligibility distance for elementary is a one-mile radius and for secondary it will be a two-mile radius.

Los Angeles Unified is offering transportation to all students, based on availability. If transportation can be provided, priority will be given to students who reside in areas where buses are available. Students will be picked up at a nearby corner or school site. Hello Verdugo Students Here are the Costume Guidelines for Halloween Tommorrow
- Students and staff may wear costumes to school according to guidelines established by the school.
- One of the most important mandates is that costumes shall not be demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or to any individual staff or student at the school.
- Costumes must comply with the dress code restriction against images that are “vulgar, sexually suggestive, discriminatory, obscene, libelous, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent content such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia” (BUL-6494.0) or cause a significant disruption or distraction to the school program.
- No weapons or replica weapons are to be brought to school.
- Mask may not completely obscure the identity of the student.
- No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard. Costumes may not impair a student’s vision or movement.
- Students and staff who wish to be excused from participating in a holiday program due to religious beliefs must be accommodated without penalty or bias.
Please follow these guidelines and have a fun halloween.

The Division of Special Education is excited to offer a series of webinars that will engage and equip our families and school communities with information about the LAUSD’s Special Education process, resources, making meaningful connections and much more!
Our VAPA Magnet has been named a National Magnet School of Excellence and our STEMM Magnet School has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.
To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme. Merit awards are only given to a select group of school. This is a great honor for the Verdugo Hills High School
Verdugo hills senior high's thespian troupe is proud to present Broadway Revue 2023. A student production which all proceeds would be donated to Broadway cares & art advocacy. Tickets are $7 and can be bought at the auditorium door the same time the play begins on 2/2 at 4:30 pm and 2/3 at 6:30 pm

Thurs. Oct 27th at 7:00 pm in our library is our Senior Parent Fafsa night. Parents bring your seniors over so we may help you complete the FAFSA and get your seniors that aid they need to continue on to their college life make sure to bring you bring yours and your childs social secuirty card and State ID/drivers license( if they have any), you will also need to bring your 2021 federal income tax returns, and your bank statements.
We encourage you to make a difference in the governance of our school by participating in this year's English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). ELAC committee consists of parent/guardians of English Learner (EL) students not employed by LAUSD. ELAC provides written advice to the School Site Council regarding programs and services for EL students.
Any senior who submits their FAFSA aplication by friday Dec. 16, 2022 will recive a free taco lunch on Thursday Feb. 16, 2023. Remider that FAFSA applications open on Oct. 1 2022 and that all seniros are requireed to submit a FAFSA application
