Attention All Magnet Families Who Receive Transportation

If you are interested in transportation for the 24-25 school year, you now have to “opt-in” through your Parent Portal Account. Please visit lausd.org/schoolbus for step-by-step instructions.

It is important to “opt-in” before May 3rd. Transportation will create routes based on the requests submitted by this date. This process is new and transportation from the prior school year will not be automatically renewed.

Good news, the eligibility distance has been reduced for both elementary and secondary students. The new eligibility distance for elementary is a one-mile radius and for secondary it will be a two-mile radius.

For more information, please visit lausd.org/schoolbus or call the Family Hotline at 213-443-1300.

If you need support from a VHHS staff member, please email or call Assistant Principal, Melissa Kickert.  Melissa.Kickert@lausd.net  818-951-5480

Verdugo Magnet Programs Receive Merit Awards

Our VAPA Magnet has been named a National Magnet School of Excellence and our STEMM Magnet School has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.

To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme. Merit awards are only given to a select group of school. This is a great honor for the Verdugo Hills High School
