Graduation Requirements
In order to earn a high school diploma from Los Angeles Senior High School, students must earn a grade of "D" or better in "a-g" courses, meet California Department of Education requirements, and complete additional LAUSD requirements. In addition, students must earn 210 numerical credits.
Social Science - 3 Years
- World History AB (1 year) OR AP World
- US History AB (1 year) OR AP US HISTORY
- Principles of American Democracy (1 semester) OR AP Government
- Economics (1 semester)
English - 4 Years
- English 9AB (1 year)
- English 10AB (1 year)
- American Literature /Contemporary Comp (1 year) OR AP English Comp
- Expository Writing/Lit Analysis (1 year) OR AP English Lit
Mathematics - 3 Years
- (CC Algebra 1, CC Geometry AB, CC Algebra 2AB, Statistics AB, Pre-Calculus AB, AP Calculus AB/BC)
Laboratory Science - 2 Years
- 1 Year Biological Science (Biology AB)
- 1 Year Physical Science (Chemistry AB or Physics AB)
Language Other Than English (LOTE) - 2 Years
- 2 years of the same language (Spanish or French)
Visual and Performing Arts - 1 Year
- Must be within the same discipline: Visual Arts, Theater, Music, or Dance
College Preparatory Elective (G) - 1 Year
